The End of Time

In DWM 412, the title for Russell T Davies and David Tennant’s final episode has been revealed as The End of Time. It also announces that John Simm and Alexandra Moen, who played the Master and Lucy Saxon respectively in 2007, are returning to their roles for 4.17/The End of Time.

In addition, former James Bond actor Timothy Dalton has been cast as ‘The Narrator’.

Sarah Jane casting

The latest issue of DWM has revealed quite a few cast names for the upcoming third series of The Sarah Jane Adventures.

Episodes 3 and 4 feature Souad Faress, Gregg Sulkin, Eleanor Tomlinson, Toby Parkes, Rai Rajani and Kate Fleetwood.

Episodes 5 and 6 feature Zienia Merton.

Episodes 7 and 8 feature Floella Benjamin, Adam Gillen, Donald Sumpter, Tony Boncza, Amelia Clarkson and Callum Blue.

Episodes 9 and 10 feature Suranne Jones, Jeff Rawle and Liza Sadovy.

Lizo Mzimba also appeares.

In addition, Russell has all but said that there is a confirmed fourth series of The Sarah Jane Adventures.


Series 5 companion announced

The actress to join Matt Smith in Series 5 has been announced as 21-year-old Karen Gillan.

Executive producer Steven Moffat said, “We saw some amazing actresses for this part, but when Karen came through the door the game was up. Funny, and clever, and gorgeous, and sexy. Or Scottish, which is the quick way of saying it. A generation of little girls will want to be her. And a generation of little boys will want them to be her too.”

Series 5 starts production in July and will begin broadcasting in spring 2010.


Casting for Christmas Specials

In the latest Doctor Who Magazine, some cast for the two Specials to air over the Christmas period were announced. The headline mentions are Catherine Tate, Bernard Cribbins, and Jacqueline King, returning as Donna, Wilf and Sylvia respectively.

Also announced are June Whitfield playing ‘Minnie Hooper’ and David Harewood.


Lindsay Duncan in second Special

Lindsay Duncan has been cast as the companion to David Tennant’s Doctor in the second of the Special Doctor Who episodes to be broadcast later this year.

The report in the Daily Record quotes Russell T Davies as saying:

“Lindsay is an incredibly talented actress and I’ve been an admirer of her work for some time.

“We are delighted to announce that she will be joining the team and playing the Doctor’s most strong-minded companion yet.”

She will reportedly play a character called Adelaide, the most strong-minded companion yet.


News from DWM 405

February 14, 2009

In DWM 405, it is announced that starting from Planet of the Dead, Doctor Who is to be shot in High Definition (HD). Torchwood is already in HD, but Doctor Who was delayed because of the high number of effects shots.

More cast names were announced for Planet of the Dead – Reginald Tsiboe, Ellen Thomas, Victoria Alcock, Daniel Kaluuya, David Ames, Keith Parry, Adam James, Glenn Doherty and James Layton.

It is also announced that for part of the third series of The Sarah Jane Adventures, K9 will make an appearance, in approximately half the episodes.


Freema to return?

The Sun is reporting that Freema Agyeman will return as Martha Jones for one of the four specials this year.

The ubiquitous insider said:

“Freema’s on board. It’s early days so it’s unclear what exactly Martha will be up to in the new show.  “

Bear in mind that this is the Sun, so anything it reports may actually be sensational rubbish.
